A fine French Empire three part ormolu garniture including, a portico shelf clock and pair of classical urns, by J. Hunziker, paris, early 19th century.

This very attractive gilt bronze clock and garniture set, epitomizes the best of French Empire décor, with elegant Classical forms finely executed from superior materials. The set is entirely crafted from gilt bronze and the clock features ormolu mounts. The shelf clock is in the form of a Classical portico with four columns supporting a pediment with a molded cornice. The moldings feature fine geometric and floral castings above a decorative floral garland. The columns have well developed Corinthian capitals and center a circular clock dial within a bezel cast with acanthus leaves. The white enamel dial has Roman numerals and is signed “Hunziker, Rue de Bussy No. 22”. The spring driven eight-day movement is hour and half hour striking and is fitted with a gridiron pendulum. The pediment of the clock has an elaborate ormolu mount with a deity among scrolled flourishes, grape arbors and Classical urns. The stepped base section has a acanthus leaf molding above cast rectangular feet. The garniture is complete with a pair of fine Classical handled urns on stepped pediments with finely molded details.
