A vibrant inlaid mahogany antique tall case clock made in New Jersey, circa 1815-20.
This handsome tall clock epitomizes the fine clock cases being produced in Southern New Jersey and Southern New York State during the second decade of the 19th century. This form, with an arched crest and delicate French feet, is a mainstay of this region. The cabinetmaker has chosen the most flamboyant selections of crotch grained mahogany for the central panels, emphasized by equally vibrant ribbon mahogany cross banding. This case makes a clear statement about the prosperity this region experienced during the early 19th Century. The brass eight day movement is in fine condition and keeps excellent time. The dial has an original surface with a floral painted arch and matching spandrels. All of our clocks have been professionally serviced and are in excellent running condition.
