A fine labeled antique Hepplewhite mahogany tall case clock by Aaron Willard, Boston, circa 1815. The case attributed to his cabinetmaker son Henry Willard.

This finely proportioned antique grandfather clock features vibrantly figured mahogany veneers and a terrific dial decorated with a riverside view of a fisherman before a cottage and arched stone bridge. The case, which retains the paper label of Boston clockmaker Aaron Willard, exhibits many characteristics associated with the cabinetwork of his son, cabinetmaker Henry Willard [1802-1887]. His cases typically have clean, unadorned lines the emulate the emerging Regency style of the period. The distinctive circular holes in a diamond patter at the sides of the hood and die stamped production numbers of #83 on various components of the case are clear indications of his work.
