An Antique Chippendale Mahogany Serpentine Front Chest of Drawers, Salem, Massachusetts, circa 1775.
This Chippendale antique serpentine chest of drawers features excellent proportions and richly grained mahogany with a pleasing old surface. The shaped and molded overhanging top has rounded corners and serpentine form front and sides. The top rests on a case with a serpentine front fitted with four graduated drawers. The drawers have molded edges and original brass bail-form pulls with oval lock escutcheons. A conforming molded skirt joins the four carved ogee bracket feet.
