An excellent antique Federal inlaid Pembroke drop leaf table, New York City, circa 1790.
This diminutive antique Pembroke drop leaf table has richly grained mahogany and distinctive contrasting pattern inlays. The top with oval drop leaves has a molded edge and is constructed from choice grained mahogany. The top rests above a conforming apron with a single long drawer at one end and a matching blind drawer at the other. The fronts of these curved drawers have dramatically grained mahogany veneers and line inlay and are set with period bail form pulls. The drawers are flanked with square tapered legs with "bookend" inlaid tops above a segmented icicle motif. The edges of each leg have line inlaid borders and applied rectangular cuffs. The antique drop leaf table has a pleasing old surface that highlights the high quality mahogany and inlays.
