Federal tiger maple inlaid chest, NH
A fine Federal tiger-maple inlaid chest of drawers, probably New Hampshire, circa 1810.
This terrific Federal chest of drawers is a classic New Hampshire form with regional flair. The vibrant paneled fronts and sweeping French feet give the chest a dramatic presence. The rounded overhanging birch top has a tiger-maple inlaid edge. The chest is comprised of four graduated drawers, each with vivid tiger-maple fronts. The drawers have mahogany cross-banded borders with ovolo corners and wonderful period pressed brass pulls. A broad tiger-maple bands repeats the inlay found in the top and transitions to a deeply lobed apron and delicate French feet.
