This attractive antique Queen Anne tap table retains a stunning, original, untouched red painted surface with a warm mellow patina. The table, which is constructed of maple, has a rectangular two-part top and a squared edge. This top is affixed to the rails with four pegs, two pair at each end. The painted surface on the top is in superb condition with only a few scattered scuffs. The top rests on a rectangular frame with simple squared rails, that join the blocked tops of the turned legs. The legs, which are gently splayed, are turned and tapered to a high pad foot. A very similar example is illustrated in “Harbor & Home, Furniture of Southeastern Massachusetts”; Jobe, Sullivan & O’Brien, page 109, Figure 30.1.
